At Breakfast on the Farm, you’ll enjoy a delicious, farm-fresh breakfast and get a behind-the-scenes look at how food is grown and raised right here in Ontario. Hosted by the Embury family and Farm & Food Care Ontario, this event offers a unique opportunity for kids and adults alike to explore the exciting world of modern agriculture.
Meet your hosts:
River Valley Cattle Co. is a family-run beef farm where a passion for raising cattle has been passed down through generations. The Embury family cares for approximately 140 purebred beef cows, as well as 80 hiefers and herd bulls, and grows crops on 1,400 acres of farmland. Their cattle are recognized for their outstanding genetics and have earned top honours at major livestock shows, including the Royal Winter Fair, Canadian Western Agribition and the National Western Stock Show in Denver. Their cattle are marketed through an annual production sale held on the farm each September, attracting buyers from North America and beyond. Several animals from their farm have gone on to win the World Hereford titles for other breeders, as well as the 2022 Miss World Hereford title for River Valley and their partner Haroldson’s Polled Herefords. At the heart of the farm is a commitment to animal care, environmental stewardship, and producing high-quality seedstock for the Canadian beef producer. The family enjoys sharing their farming story and helping people better understand how food is raised.
On September 26, the Embury family will welcome guests to River Valley Cattle Co. as hosts of Breakfast on the Farm, offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore a working beef farm, meet the people behind the food they eat, and experience Ontario agriculture firsthand.
