Water Adaptation Management and Quality Initiative (WAMQI)

The Water Adaptation Management and Quality Initiative (WAMQI) supports demonstration and applied research projects that showcase innovative technologies and solutions for agricultural water conservation and water efficiency activities related to adapting to climate change. Projects that support the efficient use of nutrients and effective nutrient management related to water quality were also eligible for funding. WAMQI helped Ontario farmers:

  • Prepare for, and better manage, the impacts of climate change through the development of resilient farm practices;
  • Address issues of water supply by adopting water conservation and water use practices; and
  • Improve water quality through better nutrient management practices.
